To address the growing concern of malnutrition among older people, healthcare professionals and nutritionists emphasize the importance of balanced nutrition to promote healthier aging. Malnutrition in older adults can lead to a range of health problems, including weakened immune systems, decreased muscle strength, and a higher risk of chronic diseases.
The consequences of malnutrition can be severe, affecting physical health, cognitive function, and overall quality of life. A comprehensive approach that includes a well-balanced diet, stress prevention and regular physical activity are recommended to combat this issue. It is essential to ensure that older people consume enough macro and micronutrients from various food sources: animal-based protein, plant-based protein, staple foods, fruits, and vegetables. Moreover, hydration is also essential for older people.
