BACKGROUND
Malnutrition is important problem in hospital that could be occurred before patients being hospitalized and during their stay in hospital. The prevalence of hospital malnutrition ranged from 20-60%. A study done in Hasan Sadikin Hospital, one of big hospital in Indonesia, shown that 71,8% of patients that came to the hospital are already malnourished. This condition is caused by patophysiology of disease, reduction in nutritional intake, increment demand of energy and nutrition because of the diseases. Hospital malnutrition is related to increment of length of stay, hospital cost, complication and mortality rate, therefore nutritional intervention to prevent and treat of this problem should be improved.
OBJECTIVE
This Annual Scientific Meeting 2014 entitled “Clinical Nutrition as An Important Component in Reducing Hospital Malnutrition” is aimed to:

  • To update clinician and dietetic practitioner information and research findings that could help prevent and treat hospital malnutrition.
  • To stimulate partnership and networking in between people who do research in the field.
  • Develop new research ideas in the field of clinical nutrition in order to prevent hospital malnutrition in Indonesia.
