ELECTIVE COURSE ON COMMUNITY NUTRITION – ANEMIA AND IODINE DEFICIENCY DISORDERS
This course introduces students to nutrition-related health care system in Indonesia, specifically in Yogyakarta Province. Students will be exposed with several nutrition problems in Indonesia, mainly anemia and iodine deficiency disorders. Real cases of malnutrition will be shown through field visitation to several institutions, including Puskesmas (Public Health Center), Posyandu (Center for pre- and postnatal health care and information), BP2GAKI (Iodine Deficiency Disorders Research Center), and Rumah Pemulihan Gizi (Therapeutic Feeding Center). Moreover, students are asked to participate in local nutrition program where they can apply their nutrition-related skills.
